How to Take Essential Oils Orally

How to Take Essential Oils Orally

Taking essential oils internally can be very beneficial for your health and in some cases, more effective than aromatic or topical application. Only high quality pure essential oils that are labeled as dietary supplements should be taken orally. Impure copies can be harmful.

Things You'll Need:

Essential oil

Empty gelatin capsule

Water

1

Decide which essential oil to use for the condition you are treating. Because essential oils are powerful compounds, seek the guidance of a licensed aromatherapist or other health care practitioner first. Even after the assistance of a professional, refer often to the essential oils user's guide that essential oil suppliers will furnish with purchases.

2

Open an empty gelatin capsule (available at most health or vitamin stores) and add a small amount of the essential oil. One fourth of a drop to one drop only. Swallow the capsule with water.

3

Add one drop of essential oil to a glass of water. Drink it.

4

Add one drop of essential oil to your meal or slice of bread. Eat up.

5

Squeeze one drop onto your tongue and swallow. Some essential oils have a bite so you should test an even smaller amount directly on the tip of your tongue first.

Tips & Warnings

Many essential oils distributors have oils already packaged in capsules and sell them as dietary supplements.

Ingest only small amounts, as in drops.

Only use essential oils that are 100% pure, have gone through one distillation process and are labeled as dietary supplements.

How to Take Chamomile Herbal Tea for Health

How to Take Chamomile Herbal Tea for Health

Chamomile herbal tea is one of those teas that I drink on a daily basis. It makes a delicate cup of tea, and it is one of my favorites when I want to create a relaxed atmosphere. I also drink it before bed to help me fall asleep. It is also one of those plants that I take if I am experiencing any soreness after exercise.

But, there are other health benefits for taking chamomile. It is very nourishing to the nervous system and has some calcium. It is also my favorite herb to take when I have an upset stomach or I'm experiencing other stomach problems. Chamomile also helps with aches and pains. It can also help with fevers and other ailments associated with the flu.

The best way to take this herb for daily health is as an herbal tea. Drink one to three cups a day, more if you need it. Remember to see a doctor before you change anything about your daily health routine.

Things You'll Need:

1 Cup water

1 Chamomile tea bag or 1 tsp. dried chamomile flowers

Honey, sugar or milk (optional)

Tea strainer

Mug

1

Bring 1 cup of water to a boil.

2

If using dried chamomile flowers, place them in the tea strainer. If you don't have a strainer, you can use cheese cloth, muslin or a coffee filter.

3

Add the tea bag or tea strainer to your mug or tea cup.

4

Pour boiling water into the mug.

5

Let the tea steep for 5 to 10 minutes.

6

This step is optional, but at this point you can add milk, sugar or honey unless you decide not to drink it (see step 7).

7

Once you brew the tea you can either drink it or use it topically. If you make two cups worth of chamomile tea, it makes an excellent hair rinse and helps bring out highlights in light hair. It is also good dabbed on skin problems such as acne. You can also make two to four cups worth following the instructions and pour it into your bath water to help relax your muscles.

Tips & Warnings

If you use fresh chamomile flowers, use one tablespoon and chop them before adding them to the tea strainer.

When purchasing chamomile tea bags or the loose herb, make sure it is as fresh as possible.

Make sure you consult with a doctor or other medical professional before you start taking chamomile.

If you are allergic to ragweed, try to avoid chamomile. They are in the same plant family.

How to Take a Thai Massage Course

How to Take a Thai Massage Course

Thai massage is a unique combination of yoga movements and acupressure placement with the goal of increased flexibility and reduced tension. Thai massage is interactive, requiring the participation of the person receiving the massage. It is one of the oldest healing modalities that originated in India. Buddhist teachings are evident in this massage, with an emphasis on compassion, loving kindness, joy and balance.

1

Locate a school or course in your community or nearby town by searching the local phone book, Internet or the International Thai Therapists Association website, which lists schools and institutions that provide training in Thai massage (see Resources below).

2

Interview the course instructor by asking about his training and background in Thai massage. Determine if the instructor is familiar with the International Thai Therapists Code of Ethics and abides by them. This code of ethics is important--it outlines the expected conduct and skills that therapists must abide by.

3

Ask about the maximum number of students per class. Thai massage requires interactive participation, and classes with large numbers are discouraged. A maximum of no more than 12 students is recommended.

4

Inquire about the number of class hours, price and number of techniques that will be covered in class. If certification is desired, inquire about courses toward certification, including number of clinical hours required.

5

Enroll in the course of your choice. Dress in comfortable clothing, preferably clothing designed for exercise and yoga. Listen and follow instructions carefully to enjoy the learning process and get the most out of the Thai massage experience.

Tips & Warnings

Thai massage requires a commitment of 2 hours per massage session.

Sign up to experience a local Thai massage before beginning a course. Inquire about schooling and workshops from the massage therapist.

How to Take a Reiki Master Course

How to Take a Reiki Master Course

After receiving a Reiki attunement, which is supposed to align your vibrations with your ki or 'life force energy', you are eligible to take level one, two and three classes. After level three, a Reiki practitioner can give attunements. The next phase is to take classes to become a Reiki master. A Reiki master can teach and receives a higher level of recognition in the new age community. Read on to learn more.

1

Check the lineage of the Reiki master from whom you will take your training. In Reiki, you receive the wisdom of all previous Reiki masters who have passed on the tradition to your teacher. You too can claim the same lineage.

2

Ask for a certification from your teacher. While there are no formal licenses required to perform Reiki, a certificate from a recognized trainer can add to your credibility when you begin to charge for your services.

3

Open your mind and heart before you interview a potential Reiki teacher. You will want to trust your instincts on this since Reiki is a spiritual practice. You need to be able to feel positive, supportive energy from your teacher in order to realize the full benefits of the practice and of your own abilities.

4

Shop around if money is an issue. Many excellent Reiki masters charge very little for their training because the practice has become very popular in new thought communities. Also, many Reiki masters hold regular jobs, and they don't rely on training fees to live on.

How to Take a Reiki I Class

How to Take a Reiki I Class

A Reiki practitioner goes through three levels before moving on to the master designation. Each level involves a deeper intensity and a stronger ability to pass on the healing energy of the higher power through the hands. Prior to taking any Reiki classes, you should receive a Reiki treatment and see how you feel. The next step is to get a Reiki attunement from a master. Read on to learn more.

1

Find a Reiki master who holds classes. They are found in yoga centers, in new thought churches and online. The most important factor is that you want to learn from someone whom you respect and believe in. Some famous Reiki masters charge large fees, while other less notable masters give you the same energy and instruction for little or no fee.

2

Get a Reiki treatment from the master prior to asking him or her to give you an attunement and train you on level one. Your comfort level with your trainer is as important, possible more important, than the reputation of the trainer.

3

Prepare for your class by spending time in meditation prior to the class. Dress comfortably and avoid caffeine or any other kind of chemical stimulant. The level I training can take anywhere from two to eight hours.

4

Go for a full vacation of Reiki training at one of many spas around the country that offer Reiki masters to their guests. You can receive energy treatments, an attunement and enough hours to qualify you for master designation in the span of a three-day spa vacation, typically set in harmonious, peaceful surroundings.

How to Pick Lingerie for a Girlfriend

How to Pick Lingerie for a Girlfriend

Lingerie can be provocative or demure, impractical or useful, dreamily romantic or racy. As a gift, it is thoughtful and appropriate if chosen well.

Things You'll Need:

Your girlfriend's preferences for lingerie

Your girlfriend's bra, panty and dress sizes

Step
1

Know her size before you go shopping. If your relationship is too new for you to know her bra and panty size, at least get her dress size. When she has an upcoming occasion such as a birthday or Valentine's Day, asking her dress size so you can buy her a gift that will not spoil the surprise.

Step
2

Pick from underwear or nightwear. Some lingerie is meant to be worn under clothes while some is meant to be worn to bed, either for sleeping or sex. Panties and bras fall into both categories. Negligees and babydolls are usually nightwear. A chemise can be worn to sleep in or used as a slip under clothes.

Step
3

Emphasize her best assets. If she has gorgeous breasts, a plunging underwire bra will emphasize them. If she has long legs, try panties with a high cut hip or sheer stockings and a garter belt.

Step
4

De-emphasize body parts she is not comfortable with. If she thinks she has a big butt, chances are she won't like wearing a thong. Similarly, don't buy her a short, tight-fitting camisole if she thinks she has a fat tummy.

Step
5

Choose colors according to what looks best on her and what her favorite colors are. She might like pastel flowers, bright patterns or solid colors in satin or lace.

Step
6

Think about what she feels comfortable wearing by herself and in front of you. Even though she might be wearing it for you, she is also wearing it for herself. You don't want to buy her something that will end up staying in her drawer.

Step
7

Ask the sales associate if the items can be returned if they don't fit. Remember that panties are not usually returnable. When in doubt, go with a smaller size (except for bras!) and her ego will thank you. Your girlfriend can return the items later and get a bigger size.

Tips & Warnings

Do not pick lingerie for your girlfriend if your relationship is brand new. It can easily be misinterpreted. Save the lingerie gift for when your girlfriend is comfortable enough with you to accept it.

How to Pick Jewelry for a Girlfriend

How to Pick Jewelry for a Girlfriend

Jewelry is its own wardrobe. It can dress up slacks, dress down blazers, and re-create
tank
tops

. The assortment of options--earrings and necklaces and bracelets and brooches and rings and hat pins and so forth--can be overwhelming to the well-intentioned boyfriend whose eyes widen in panic when he hears the price of platinum over sterling silver. Before we begin, relax. Follow the below steps for guidance on how to choose a piece of jewelry your girlfriend will love.

Things You'll Need:

Stock of fashion magazines

Computer with Internet access

Step
1

Decide what type of

jewelry

your girlfriend would most appreciate. Does she often wear rings? Are her ears pierced? Has she expressed interest in a particular necklace? Pay attention to small clues that define her personal style.

Step
2

Set your budget. Costume jewelry or funky, one-of-a-kind pieces will help your girlfriend make a bold statement and are generally inexpensive (under $50) while high-end jewelry is made of stronger materials and can include diamonds, rubies, and other gems.

Step
3

Look through fashion magazines to get an idea of current styles and trends. If you notice a lot of models wearing dark-colored stones set in silver, you can use that as a guide for choosing your own piece.

Step
4

Shop around. Visit local jewelry stores to determine what is available in your price range. Don't be afraid to approach a sales professional for advice--it's his or her job to piece together the clues you have to find a great piece for your recipient. Online retailers are also a good resource.

Step
5

Make your final selection. If you choose an expensive piece, talk with a sales professional (or online customer service if purchased via the web) to determine payment options. Retailers often will provide a customized payment plan to ease the financial burden of your purchase.

Tips & Warnings

Consider purchasing one piece of jewelry from a set. If your girlfriend loves it, you have the option of purchasing matching items for upcoming birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays.

Always keep the receipt. Jewelry can be quite personal so if you don't see the gleam in your girlfriend's eye as she unwraps the box, assure her she can exchange the item for one of her choosing. She will love you for the effort.

Beware online retailers with whom you have never dealt. It's easy to describe an item as "14 karat gold" when it really means plated in 14 karat gold. If you can't verify the reputation of the site, avoid doing business with them.
